1. Does this kit include everything needed to start recording straight away?
No. The kit includes 3 x 8MP cameras and the DHI-NVR4104HS-P-AI/ANZ NVR. You will need a hard drive for recording, a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable to connect each camera to the NVR, and a monitor or television for on-site playback. Remote viewing via the DMSS app is available once the NVR is connected to your router.

2. Can I add more cameras to this system after purchase?
Yes. The NVR has 4 PoE ports and supports 4 channels, so you can add up to 1 more cameras before requires to upgrade to an 8-channel or larger Dahua WizSense NVR. If you anticipate needing additional cameras in the future, planning your total camera count before purchasing avoids the cost of replacing the NVR later.

3. Are these cameras suitable for indoor installation as well as outdoor?
Yes. While the IP67 rating is designed for outdoor use, the cameras can also be mounted indoors. The compact turret profile suits ceiling and wall mounting in corridors, reception areas, warehouses, retail floors, and stairwells where a low-profile, non-intrusive form factor is preferred.

4. Do the cameras record audio, and what should I know about that in Australia?
Each camera includes a built-in microphone and records audio alongside video to the NVR. Australian surveillance laws vary by state, and audio recording is generally subject to stricter requirements than video. Recording audio in private spaces or without the knowledge of those being recorded may be restricted or prohibited depending on your state legislation. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with the applicable laws in your state before enabling audio recording.

5. Do these cameras record in colour at night?
Yes, when motion is detected. The Smart Dual Light system activates warm light LEDs on detection, producing full-colour night footage at the moment it matters. During quiet periods without motion, the cameras revert to IR mode for discreet low-level monitoring, preserving warm light LED lifespan while maintaining continuous coverage.

6. What happens during a power outage?
Recording will stop while power is unavailable. Once power is restored, the NVR and cameras automatically restart and resume recording according to their configured schedule.

7. Is this system suitable for home security?
Yes. This Dahua security camera kit is ideal for homes, units and townhouses, providing high-resolution recording, smart AI detection and convenient remote monitoring.
