Product FAQs

1. Does this kit include everything needed to start recording straight away?
No. The kit includes 3 x 6MP cameras and the DS-7604NI-M1-4P NVR. You will need a hard drive for recording, a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable to connect each camera to the NVR, and a monitor or television for on-site playback. Remote viewing via the Hik-Connect app is available once the NVR is connected to your router.

2. Can I add more cameras to this system after purchase?
Yes. The NVR has 4 PoE ports and supports 4 channels, so you can add up to 1 more cameras before requires to upgrade to an 8-channel or larger NVR. If you anticipate needing additional cameras in the future, planning your total camera count before purchasing avoids the cost of replacing the NVR later.

3. Are these cameras suitable for indoor installation as well as outdoor?
Yes. While the IP67 rating is designed for outdoor use, the cameras can also be mounted indoors. The compact turret profile suits ceiling and wall mounting in corridors, reception areas, warehouses, retail floors, and stairwells where a low-profile, non-intrusive form factor is preferred.

4. Can I use this system without a monitor?
Yes. After the initial setup, many users operate the system entirely through the Hik-Connect app. A monitor is recommended for initial configuration and local playback.

5. Does this system work without an internet connection?
Yes. The system records locally to the hard drive without an internet connection. Internet is only required if you want remote viewing through the Hik-Connect app, receive motion notifications, or access the system while away from your property.

6. Can the cameras be mounted on walls or ceilings?
Yes. The turret cameras are designed for both wall and ceiling installation and can be adjusted after mounting to achieve the desired viewing angle.

7. What happens during a power outage?
Recording will stop while power is unavailable. Once power is restored, the NVR and cameras automatically restart and resume recording according to their configured schedule.
