1. Does this kit include everything needed to start recording straight away?
No. The kit includes 6 x 6MP cameras and the DS-7608NI-M2-8P NVR. You will need a hard drive for recording, a Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable to connect each camera to the NVR, and a monitor or television for on-site playback. Remote viewing via the Hik-Connect app is available once the NVR is connected to your router.

2. Can I add more cameras to this system after purchase?
Yes. The NVR has 8 PoE ports and supports 8 channels, so you can add up to 2 more cameras before requires to upgrade to an 16-channel or larger NVR. If you anticipate needing additional cameras in the future, planning your total camera count before purchasing avoids the cost of replacing the NVR later.

3. What is the benefit of AcuSense on this camera?
AcuSense helps the camera distinguish between people, vehicles, and less important forms of motion. In practical terms, that means fewer nuisance alerts caused by things like moving branches, animals, or general environmental activity. For users, this creates a more efficient surveillance experience because recorded events and notifications are more relevant and easier to review.

4. Do the cameras need a separate power supply or PoE injector?
No. The DS-7608NI-M8/8P has 8 built-in PoE ports that both power and transmit data from each camera over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable per camera. No separate PoE switch or power injector is required for a standard camera installation.

5. Are these cameras suitable for indoor installation as well as outdoor?
Yes. While the IP67 rating is designed for outdoor use, the cameras can also be mounted indoors. The compact turret profile suits ceiling and wall mounting in corridors, reception areas, warehouses, retail floors, and stairwells where a low-profile, non-intrusive form factor is preferred.

6. Can I install the system myself?
Yes. If you are comfortable running Ethernet cables and mounting cameras, many homeowners install the system themselves. Each camera only requires a single Ethernet cable back to the NVR for both power and data using PoE.

7. Does the NVR make any noise?
The NVR is quite loud due to the fan running to cool down the system. Its recommended that the customer installed the NVR away from the bedroom and in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating and ensure reliable long-term operation.
